PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX

The bite splint with thermo-effect

PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX is the new, particularly innovative milling disc for CAD/CAM generated bite splints and nightguards.

The material is a transparent PMMA acrylic with thermo-effect. This effect procures that the milled bite splint, when warmed up, automatically adapts in the patient's mouth, without losing its surface hardness.

uses

PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX is the new, innovative blank for CAD/CAM milled bite splints and nightguards.

advantages

  • Tension-free wearing comfort and precise fitting due to the thermo-effect
  • Very durable – maximum breakage resistance through memory effect – more resistant to breakage than most conventional PMMA acrylics
  • High transparency for almost invisible wearing comfort
  • Very low plaque affinity
  • Can be easily combined with conventional powder-liquid systems for manual corrections
  • Mills very well, preferably with 1-flute milling tools
  • Significantly easy handling for dentist, technician and patient thanks to the described material properties

details

The NEW standard for milled bite splints!

with PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX we have added a new and very innovative milling blank for CAD/CAM milled nightguards to our primotec digital products portfolio.

The CLEAR FLEX material is a transparent PMMA acrylic with thermo-effect. This effect procures that the milled bite splint, when warmed up, automatically adjusts to the dental arch in the patients mouth, without losing the materials surface hardness.

The thermo-effect is achieved, when the milled PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX nightguard is pre-heated in 40°C to 50°C warm water prior to being inserted. This way, during insertion, the bite splint perfectly adapts itself in the patient’s mouth.

The result is a milled nightguard that perfectly fits the dental arch without any tension. Due to the surface hardness of the material, occlusal contacts and canine- as well as anterior guidance remain where they had been set in the lab.

Nothing presses, nothing strains

The milled PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX bite splint is just super comfortable to wear.

Especially comfortable for the dentist and the lab is the fact, that PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX, due to the described thermo-effect, can compensate for moderate inaccuracies of the impression. This way, the material is especially appropriate for intra oral scanning of the complete dental arch.

CONCLUSION: happy patients – pleased dentists – relaxed technicians – due to milled PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX nightguards from primotec

technical tipsuseful tips for your workflow

  • In order to avoid excessive frictional heat during the milling process, it makes sense for thermoplastic materials such as PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX to reduce the rotational speed of the spindle during the milling process.
  • Can be milled very well, preferably with 1-flute milling tools

working procedurethe workflows for standard applications

Workflow in detail

CAD design and CAM nesting:
A wall thickness of at least 1.0 mm must be maintained for the CAD design of the splints! The occlusal layer thickness after finishing must not be less than 0.9 mm!
When nesting, care must be taken to ensure that sufficient retaining pins (8 each labial and oral) are attached. Since the material is thermoactive, the splint could otherwise deform during the milling process, which in turn could lead to the milling tool breaking.

CAD/CAM milling and finishing:
PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX can be milled dry and wet, if possible with single-edged tools. In order to remove the milled workpiece from the blank, the holding webs are first cut off with the help of a fine, cross-toothed carbide milling cutter. If necessary, the splint is then further processed with appropriate milling machines and cutting discs.

Polishing:
PREMIOtemp CLEAR FLEX splints are pre-polished or polished to a high gloss with commercially available polishing brushes and polishing pastes. Absolutely avoid excessive heat generation during polishing. Careful polishing is absolutely necessary to achieve a perfect result and to avoid plaque build-up and its negative consequences.

Clean:
Basically, no cleaning solutions should be used. Clean the finished splint for about one minute at max. 35 °C in the ultrasonic device.
Evaporation leads to heat and pressure and is therefore generally unsuitable for cleaning and should be avoided.
